Plastic surgery for teens: A good or bad move?
In a world where people of all ages increasingly turn to plastic surgery for reasons that are purely cosmetic — and, in some cases, narcissistic — many teens say they are going under the knife for different reasons. But how young is too young for plastic surgery? Plastic surgery – Surgery – Health – Medicine – Cosmetic and Plastic

Liposuction And Cutting Out Excess Glandular Tissue Can Reduce Oversized Male Breasts

Gynecomastia is a medical term that originates from the Greek words for “women-like breasts.” This condition is far more common than many realize. Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of the male population. It may affect only one breast or both. Although certain drugs such as anabolic steroids, medications containing estrogen, alcohol, marijuana, etc., and medical conditions including cancer, impaired liver function, to name a few, may cause or contribute to enlarged male breasts, it is widely accepted that a large percentage of cases derive from unknown sources.

Men of any age who are healthy and emotionally stable are considered good candidates for Male Breast Reduction surgery. The best candidates are those who have firm, elastic skin that will reshape to the body’s new contours. In some instances, Male Breast Reduction Surgery may be discouraged for overweight men who have not first tried an exercise and diet regimen.

Enlarged male breasts can be reduced by liposuction and/or by cutting out excess glandular tissue. The procedure for gynecomastia takes an average of two hours, usually on an outpatient basis, using general or local anesthesia. If excessive glandular tissue, fat and skin is present, it will be removed.

Surgery may be performed alone or in conjunction with lipoplasty, where the suction device will typically be inserted through the existing incisions. For the removal of excess fatty tissue alone, lipoplasty may be all that is needed; in such cases, scars will be small and barely visible.

Results are permanent, although subsequent obesity can create a gynecomastia-like effect. Some of the benefits of male breast reduction surgery include a firmer, flatter, more contoured chest which may give the male patient a boost in self-confidence. There is little downtime, and you may return to work within one week usually, unless you are involved in strenuous activities.

There will be scarring around the nipple of the breast (areola) from this procedure but will fade over a period of time and be less visible. There will be some post-operative bruising, swelling, and burning sensation. To assist with the healing process, the patient will wear an elastic pressure garment for 3-6 weeks and must avoid exposing scarred areas to the sun for at least 6 months.

Other considerations include temporary numbness or lack of sensation that could last up to a year. Infrequent complications may include infection, skin damage, fluid accumulation, bleeding, scarring or pigment changes. Post-operative asymmetry, while rare, is possible; a second procedure may be needed to remove additional tissue.

A Guide To Male Breast Reduction Surgery

One of the major problems for men these days is not necessarily baldness, although it is still a big factor for many men concerned about inheriting this genetic disorder. Hair loss is generally something that cannot be treated without transplant surgery – even this can cause some problems as it is only effective in the thinning hair area, rather than alleviating baldness altogether. This in comparison to Gynecomastia, is more accepted by the public.

Gynecomastia (growth of male breast tissue) is a condition, which can happen to any male of the ages 16 and more. This can be common amongst teenage boys who have a hormonal imbalance during puberty, whereby the breast tissue begins to form. However, this can reduce and disappear after a short while once the teenager has grown into adulthood. In this case, the condition is not severe enough for a male breast reduction (mastectomy) procedure to follow on.

Men who are in need of male breast reduction surgery, are usually ones who have a very high amount of breast tissue formed and actually look like they have breasts protruding from their chest. This can sometimes cause unwanted secretion of milk from the breast and cause great concerns for the mans appearance. This is an unusual condition and one which cannot be dealt with unless surgery is conducted to reduce the size of the mammary gland.

These leave some scarring, which do decrease in visibility as time moves on. Men who do suffer from this tends to try to hide away from the public. Covering up with lose t-shirts or even buy tailor-made male bras. These usually look like vests, designed to hold the breast growth in and reducing the appearance of the breast. Unlike women bras, these do not fit around the cup size. Instead they are pulled over the breasts and firmly, yet without restricting the body, push in the breasts. Normally this would be an ideal option for those who are not too keen on undergoing surgery.

Men who do choose to go under surgery tend to be the ones looking to be rid of the problem altogether. When the surgery is over, patients are advised to lead a healthier more active lifestyle to try and help prevent the same thing from occurring again. Those listed for this surgery will need to have had some preparation beforehand by consulting with a surgeon. This may take some time as you would want to approach a reputable cosmetic surgeon. They are ones who have had five or more years in surgery with two or more years in plastic surgery.

These are offered to men whose condition cannot be prevented or reduced by alternative medical treatment , the condition has stabilised, are of reasonable health and who are non-smokers and non drug users. Normally the men are spoken to about why they desire to have this procedure and how this will affect them in the end. This is where some men can reveal how much this may have lowered their confidence, including what this will do for them once they have had the procedure done.

Gynecomastia Male

Gynecomastia Male
How much does Gynecomastia (Male chest reduction) cost?

Before you invest thousands in surgery consider the following:

Most people claim that “Man Boobs” are caused by a hormone imbalance… what they don’t realise is that this isn’t the “root cause”. A hormone imbalance doesn’t just happen, something has to trigger it.

Our bodies are made up of over 75 trillion cells. To stay vibrant and healthy they need 3 key elements…

1) Oxygen
2) Minerals
3) Being able to get rid of their waste

Because the western diet and lifestyle is so poor, our cells are seriously deprived (and these are the very building blocks on which we live). As a result some die, but even more worryingly; some mutate. Also, our bodies surround the pollution in fat to protect us from the harm it can cause.

This is the real reasoning for a build up of fat in the chest.

# Here’s the crucial advice – Try this for the next 10 days and judge by your own results…

1) At least 70% of your diet should come from vegetables. The cells in your chest need the minerals to become healthy again.

2) Drink 3-4 litres of pure water a day. Water has been proven to remove fatty deposits almost immediately. It also contains essential minerals.

3) Exercise aerobically for at least 20 minutes everyday. Your body has an internal sewage system called the lymph system. However, in order to get all the junk out, it needs to be manually pumped through deep breathing. By doing so, you’re getting oxygen to the cells and getting rid of the waste.

Understanding the cause of “man boobs” is just the beginning.

One of the most embarrassing things any man can suffer from is the occurrence of “man boobs.” Whether it is from obesity or actual victims of Gynecomastia, “man boobs” have been a common occurrence in America today. There are many movies and objects that depict the very image of man boobs. Most people laugh it off because it is humorous. Men are not supposed to have boobs nor are they made to breast feed. It is a deformity that occurs more often than not. Here are some famous examples of man boobs: Golden statues of Buddha, sumo wrestlers, some roman statues, Samewise Gamgee from “Lord of the Rings,” Tom Cruise in his debut of the “The Last Samurai,” etc.

More and more men in America are becoming obese and these man boobs become a common occurrence. In the show, “The Biggest Loser” aired on NBC represents the majority of American men today. Male Gynecomastia

Male Gynecomastia

Can Gynecomastia Be Cured Naturally?

Gynecomastia is a scientific term that comes from the Greek words for ‘women-like breasts’. Gynecomastia itself is not physically harmful, but in some cases may be an indicator of other more dangerous underlying conditions. Gynecomastia is the enlargement of the Male Breast resulting in what is sometimes called ‘Man Boobs‘. It affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men.

These breast formation in males is most commonly caused by hormonal changes that can occur at puberty or as part of the aging process. Breast development due to being overweight is referred to as Pseudogynecomastia or false gynecomastia. Breast tissue growth in guys can appear on one or both sides of the chest, and the breast area can feel tender. Though certain drugs and medical problems have been linked with male breast overdevelopment, there is no known cause in the vast majority of cases.

Hormone changes that occur with normal aging can cause gynecomastia, especially in men who are overweight. One of the several glands that produce hormones can malfunction for reasons other than chromosomes. If the balance between the hormones estrogen and testosterone is changed, breast development can occur.

For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. Surgery can remove fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter and firmer. Surgery may be discouraged for obese or overweight men who have not first attempted to correct the problem with exercise or weight loss.

When male breast-reduction surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Once a patient is deemed a good candidate for Male Breast Reduction, their physician should give them an explanation of the procedure as well as an overview of what type of results they should expect from the surgery. However, surgery is usually expensive and should only be taken into account when other attempts have failed. Surgery may be an option for certain patients when other treatment methods fail or there is breast tissue that remains and has hardened, since other treatments may have no effect in this case short of removal of the tissue.

Men over the age of 50 tend to produce fewer androgens such as testosterone or gain fat tissue that converts androgen into estrogen.

Men with gynecomastia have an overall risk for malignant tumours similar to that in the reference population. Also a non-significantly increased risk for esophageal cancer was noted while no cases of male breast cancer was seen. For men with a gynecomastia diagnosis a after 50 years of age the risk of testicular cancer is negligible whilst a gynecomastia diagnosis before and after 50 years of age may both indicate an increased the risk for skin cancer. Risks of surgical correction for Gynecomastia BleedingInfection and poor healingAllergic reaction to anesthesiaSores around the nipple that can be treated by antibiotic creamScars from surgery which fade away as time goes by.

There are several natural treatments known for gynecomastia. If Male Breasts are tender as a result of gynecomastia, cold compresses may be applied. Many American insurance companies deny coverage for surgery for Gynecomastia Treatment on the grounds that it is a cosmetic procedure.

Obese or overweight men who have not first attempted to correct the condition with exercise and weight loss are discouraged as the condition may be able to be treated without surgery in these individuals. All you have to do to treat obesity related Gynecomastia is to simply go on a diet and get plenty of exercise.

What is the average cost of Gynecomastia Surgery?

Usually when people get this form of plastic surgery done to remove male breasts caused by gynecomastia how much does it cost? For a mild case? thanks

Men Breast Reduction

Men Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast Reduction, or Reduction Mammoplasty, is the surgical procedure to reduce breast size and weight through the removal of excess breast tissue, fat and skin. The plastic surgeon not only makes the breasts more proportionate to a womans figure, but also lifts them.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 114,250 Breast Reduction surgeries were performed in 2005 on women who had excessively large breasts, a condition also known as Macromastia, Mammary Hypertrophy and Mammary Gigantism. Some girls develop breast overdevelopment (Mammary Hypertrophy) during puberty, while some women develop very large breasts (Gigantomastia) during pregnancy.

All of these women chose the option of Breast Reduction because it was the only way to correct the physical and emotional issues that are caused by excess breast weight. Reasons for undergoing Reduction Mammoplasty include:

Chronic Neck, Back and Shoulder Pain:
A woman with size “F” cup breasts is carrying approximately six pounds more than a woman with a “D” cup. This additional weight is sustained by the neck, back and shoulders, causing chronic pain in these areas. Many women find relief only through strong narcotics and muscle relaxants, leading to physical addiction, and emotional trauma. As such, Mammary Hypertrophy is a physical disability.

Disproportionate Breasts:
Some women develop breasts that are disproportionate to their overall size, such as a petite woman with “D” cup breasts, who would be very “top heavy” and have difficulty finding clothes that fit properly.

Inability to Exercise:
For many women with Mammary Hypertrophy, the mere weight of their breasts makes it impossible to maintain any kind of exercise routine.

Skin Rashes and Chronic Skin Infection:
Excessive Sweating in the folds beneath large and pendulous breasts results in chronic dermatitis (skin irritation) and even fungal and bacterial skin infections in the inframammary fold. Furthermore, the wires in most support bras further irritate this area, resulting in long-term disintegration of the skin, and agonizing pain.

Breast “Ptosis” or Sagging:
Often, women with large breasts have a pendulous breast shape, with nipples and areolas (the colored areas around the nipple) that point downward. Their heavy breasts sag so that they must always wear a bra, and cannot wear revealing clothes.

Painful Shoulder Grooves from Heavy Bra Straps:
Painful and uncomfortable indentations result from the need to wear full support bras with tight straps, even to sleep.

Breast Asymmetry:
Breasts with significant “unevenness” make women feel “lopsided” and make finding clothing difficult.

Insomnia:
Many women with excessively large breasts have difficulty breathing during sleep, and often resort to sleeping upright while wearing their bras to bed.

Emotional Trauma:
For many women, the discomfort and self-consciousness from excessive breast size becomes a problem that overshadows all other areas of their life at work, friendship and romance.

Some health plans cover Breast Reduction for chronic medical conditions, taking into consideration factors such as the amount of breast tissue to be removed, and how severe the medical, rather than cosmetic, problems are.

During the most common Breast Reduction surgery, the plastic surgeon makes an “anchor-shaped” incision the circles the areola, through a total of three incisions. One incision is made around the areola the colored area around the nipple. A second incision is made vertically from the bottom of the areola to beneath the breast crease. A third incision curves in the under-breast (Inframammary) fold. The plastic surgeon then removes excess tissue, fat and skin, shifting the nipple and the areola into their new higher position.

The plastic surgeon then brings the skin from both sides of the breast down around the areola, shaping the new contour of the breast. Skin that was above the nipple is lowered to the breast crease, allowing the surgeon to bring skin together and to reshape the breast.

Often, Breast Reduction is performed simultaneously with a Breast Lift or “Mastopexy,” because the excess fat and glandular tissue that made breasts large and heavy lead to sagging that can only be corrected by a lifting procedure. Men who develop excessively large breasts, or “woman-like” breasts a condition known as Gynecomastia – can also undergo Breast Reduction.

How can I reduce my gynecomastia without surgery?

I am 18 years old and I have had gynecomastia since I was 7. When I was 7 I was overweight and I didn’t start becoming self-conscious of my breasts until age 10 and I rarely took my shirt off in front of others, nor went to the pool.

When I was 14 I was close to 300 pounds [I was very tall at 6'3"] and my breasts grew even more. The physicians even measured me as a B cup. So over the last 4 years I’ve changed my eating habits, started exercising more and now I am down almost 70 pounds. Basically every area on my body diminished by my breasts, and I’m becoming more discouraged because I have defined pectoral muscles with huge flappy breast tissue sloshing over it. I can feel where the muscle stops and the tissue begins

The doctor said it would dissolve over puberty. Now I am coming towards the end of puberty and no progress has been achieved. How can I reduce my gynecomastia without expensive surgery?

dude…i feel bad fo u…but u can’t really spot reduce a certian area…

the best ways i can suggest is stop eating fatty food..try to hit the gym for cardio..do a good 30 min cardio for a month or so and then switch to HIIT( high intensity interval training ), do a lot of swimming..and most importantly..DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!..

Gynecomastia Treatment In Beverly Hills-New,minimal Invasivetechnique Of Male Breastremovalreduction

Treatment of Gynecomastia in Beverly Hills is a common part of many plastic surgeons’ practices. Removal of overgrown Male Breast tissue by plastic surgeons in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills varies in technique and effectiveness.

The most prevalent technique for Gynecomastia treatment in Beverly Hills has been the direct excision of male breast tissue through an incision at the periphery of the areola. This scar is often noticeable when a young man takes off his shirt, which become a source of embarrassment is the gym.

Dr. Younai has devised a new technique for the treatment of Gynecomastia in Beverly Hills. In this new method, most of the fatty breast tissue is first liposuctioned via small puncture wounds in the arm pit and the outer chest. This removes about 90% of the breast volume. The remainder of the male breast tissue, which is fibrous, is then removed through a small incision in the areola. With special minimal invasive tools the remaining breast gland is cut into smaller pieces that can be removed through this very small incision. This incision is closed with just two stitches and the patient is sent home in a compression chest garment.

The superficial liposuction technique used in this novel Gynecomastia treatment causes the loose breast skin to shrink by more than 90-95%. In this fashion, there is often no need to remove excess skin and therefore no visible chest scars. In only about 5-10% of patients, Dr. Younai finds the need to remove excess skin at a later time, via a small peri-areolar incision.

This innovative method of Gynecomastia treatment eliminates the noticeable chest scars that are the tale-tell sign of male breast tissue removal.

Dr. Younai is a Board certified plastic surgeon who receives patients at the California Center for Plastic Surgery from the Northern as well as the Southern California region. Some of these cities are Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Burbank, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Pasadena, Glendale, Valencia, Palmdale, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Oxnard.

How to Get Rid Of Man Boobs by Understanding the Cause

Nearly all sufferers want to know how to Get Rid Of Man Boobs. and it’s hardly surprising as they can be the cause of considerable distress and upset to many of them. Here I talk about why some men Get Man Boobs and how To Get Rid Of Man Boobs successfully and permanently.

What are man boobs?

In order to get an insight into the subject we need to think about the definition of man boobs. The medical name for what we commonly call man boobs is Gynecomastia. The word derives from the Greek for ‘womanly breast’. It?s not surprising that the early medic used this term because, as far as the structure goes, a man?s breast tissue is very much the same as a woman?s. But the big difference is that women milk-secreting glands. Men have these too, but in a very reduced form. The other obvious distinction to be made between male and female breast tissue is that, pretty obviously, a female has a lot more fat in this area. When a woman is not producing milk for a breast-feeding baby, most of the tissue present in the breast consists of adipocytes or fat cells.

How do men get breasts?

Estrogen in the blood is responsible for the deposition of fat in the cells that form the breast tissue. And the higher the estrogen level, the more fat is likely to be deposited.

Now, as a red-blooded male you might be surprised to learn that as well as having testosterone in the blood stream, you also have a small concentration of estrogen occurring naturally in your body as well. The build up of fat cells and the epithelial cells that will ultimately produce milk, is caused by estrogen. And it’s this that causes man boobs. If you want to understand How To Get Rid Of Man Boobs, you need to comprehend the significance of hormone balance.

What happens at puberty?

It’s quite normal for hormones to be out of balance during the time of puberty. It’s at this time that our adult testosterone/estrogen balance is being established. At this time of their lives, boys can, and often do, develop the beginning stages of breasts. This might last for as long as a year and a half. Then, as the testicles develop and testosterone levels increase they eventually occlude the effects of estrogen. If this pubertal gynecomastia lasts longer than eighteen months then there is a chance that the epithelial milk tissue will become established. This can be more difficult to get rid of.

Drug Use

Man boobs can develop as a result of some form of drug use. And especially in the use of anabolic steroids used by body builders and weightlifters. It?s estimated that roughly sixty-five percent of men with gynecomastia developed it by using steroids. And it?s mostly bodybuilders who ask how to get rid of man boobs.

The importance of hormones

So, in order to understand how to get rid of man boobs, you can see that an understanding of the importance of hormonal balance is also important.

There are now a number of systems that can help you to Lose Your Man Boobs. Usually, they integrate special diet regimes with specifically developed exercise routines that target the chest in particular. But, crucially, they also focus on the control of your hormone balance. If you suffer from man boobs, then putting your hormone balance in order will be central to losing them. It’s in the special area of hormone regulation that systems such as these can be much more effective than the normal advice which is usually just to lose weight.

Man boobs are often embarrassing and distressing for lots of men, young and old, some of whom have been keen to know how to get rid of man boobs for years. At last, proper Lose Man Boobs systems that have been produced by professionals are available. They are remarkably good value and can resolve the problem once and for all.

Man’s plea for breast reduction?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/nottinghamshire/7181389.stm

A man who has a condition which has caused him to develop abnormally large breasts says he is frustrated he has been turned down for NHS surgery.
Lee Jardine, 23, from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, suffers from a condition called Gynecomastia.
His doctor says he needs to lose weight but Mr Jardine said this made no difference to the size his breasts.
Nottinghamshire County Primary Care Trust (PCT) said they could not comment on individual cases.

your thoughts on this

Looking at the pictures, those seem to be the result of a condition rather than obesity, which should qualify him for surgery.

Gynecomastia Correction – The Cure For Man Boobs

Believe it or not, approximately 40-60% of men have gynecomastia, or “man boobs.” Gynecomastia is a swelling of the male breast tissue. It is generally caused by an excessive concentration of estrogen in males, resulting in an imbalance between testosterone and estrogen in the body. This hormone imbalance may result from:

• Natural hormone changes
• Medication
• Health conditions

Some men experience gynecomastia during adolescence. These cases will generally go away on their own after puberty. However, it is also quite common for men to develop gynecomastia later in life, particularly after age 50. While man boobs do not pose a serious health risk, many men experience embarrassment as a result of this condition.

Treatment Options for Gynecomastia

Sometimes the condition can be remedied with medication. Drugs such as tamoxifen and raloxifene, which are commonly used to treat breast cancer, may be effective in treating some cases of gynecomastia as well.

Frequently, surgery will be required to correct the condition. There are two types of surgical procedures for treating gynecomastia:

• Male Breast Reduction
• Liposuction

If your Male Breasts are primarily made up of glandular tissue, your cosmetic surgeon will perform Male Breast Reduction Surgery. An incision is made either near the areola or under the arm. Your male breast surgeon will remove excess tissue with a scalpel.

If your breasts consist of fatty tissue, liposuction will be a more effective option. Your cosmetic surgeon will make an incision near the areola or under the arm and then break up and remove the excess fat with liposuction.

In cases where both fatty and glandular tissues are present, your surgeon may combine both procedures for maximum effectiveness.

Am I a Candidate for Male Breast Reduction?

Generally, you are a good candidate for male breast reduction if:

• You experience tenderness or pain in your breast tissue
• You experience considerable embarrassment over your condition

At your initial consultation, your male breast surgeon will review your medical history to make sure that you are in good overall health. Most doctors will not perform the surgery if you are not in good general health prior to the procedure.
